Family Heirlooms as Modelled by Kate

Fashion - what we choose to wear - is as much about trends and runway shows as it is about an expression of ourselves. In this case, wearing the Guernsey is totally an expression of my paternal family roots and the customs, family members and friends that are attached to the island of Guernsey.

Originally, due to its oiled wool, the jumper was worn mainly by seamen and fishermen who needed warm and hard wearing clothing. It is thought that - as well as Moss the Boss - both Mary and Queen Elizabeth wore Guernsey knitwear.

The month our grandfather decided to take my sister and I shopping for Guernseys - December 2013 - happened to be the month Kate Moss appeared wearing it in British Vogue. Of course I would have bought either way, and I was proud to see the Guernsey gaining coverage on the most famous model of all time in one of the most famous magazines of all time. I took my inspiration for this outfit very loosely from Kate.
