Shanghai at Dusk: What to Wear

Welcome to Shanghai at dusk: neon lights appear in your periphery vision -taking over your whole vision as soon as the day’s light is dissipated -, traffic slows to a thick trudge, commuters in all shapes and nationalities make their way home and, for those not wanting to slow down, the evening holds promise. Shanghai is brimming with bars, restaurants and clubs to suit every taste; just on this crossroads we could see a Pho restaurant, a French wine bar, Spanish tapas and the compulsory Chinese hot pot. With only six weeks to go until I’m on my one-way ticket back to Spain, I’m appreciating my host city more than ever before.

And what to wear to this promising evening? Be it drinks with friends, a date or some food before making the most of your dancing shoes, my love for the black jumpsuit-elegant heels has been evident before, but this jumpsuit is your best friend. My love affair with Wanderland’s vintage, one of a kind or inspired pieces has been happening for over a year now (evidence of this here and here, plus #BTS of shoots with them on Instagram here).

Sadly I wasn’t on my way out during this scene (am I a convincing actress?) but I can’t wait until I’m going out next to slip into it again. Maybe the sky-high nightclub with the shark tank that I’m yet to visit while in Shanghai…

Day to Day in Ripped Denim

PRIMARK sleeveless jacket, ZARA shirt, TOPSHOP jeans, NIKE FREE trainers*

Ripped denim... be it torn, snagged, at the hems or big slits across the knee, ripped denim is my favourite way to keep the classic 'denim + basic top' combination looking fresh and updated. I'm all about the effortless, and if the working elves at Topshop are going to design and make a pair (here) that is frayed in all the right places, I might as well buy myself the pair in every single wash. Check this outfit transformed by sequin-covered outerwear here

The blog has seen a dry spell recently as I was assessing what it is I want to do (in the future - the big questions), what this blog is about and what its place is both in the blogosphere and in my life... It's slowly becoming clearer and I can't wait to see where it all goes. I've got 6 short weeks left in Shanghai and I intend to make the most of it! Last minute trips, plenty of Shanghai-specific shopping and a dreaded Mandarin exam heading my way...
